Ingredients:  
Mix: 2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/8 tsp. salt
Cook: 1 stick margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
4 T. cocoa
1 cup of water
Bring to a boil. then combine the two parts.
Add: 1/2 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
Mix well.
Add: 1 tsp. vanilla
Pour into cookie sheet with sides.
Bake 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

6 T. milk
Bring to a boil.
Add: 1 lb. pkg. of powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Beat well and spread over very warm cake.

Mom made this cake for the men at Dunn's store whenever they had a birthday. Therefore she made lots of Texas cakes!! There never was any left and she never forgot any birthdays!!
