2 cups honey
1 tsp. salt
1 ½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp. ginger
4 eggs
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 tsp. soda
2 tsp. vanilla
¼ cup hot water
8 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Measure honey into saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Mix in 5 cups of the flour, thoroughly beating after each addition. Let set at least 12 hours. Then mix in the beaten eggs. Dissolve soda in the hot water and add. Sift spices and salt with remaining 3 cups of flour. Add vanilla. Roll ¼” thick. Use donut cutter with hole in center. Bake at 375º until brown.

Steve and his siblings used to raid the freezer at the farm for these...and always got chastised - or so he says. I think Grandma Lucy loved it when they did this!.
