1 1/3 lb. small white onions (1/2" to 1")
1 tbsp. butter
1 tbsp. flour
1 c. heavy cream
1/8 tsp. ground cloves
2 tbsp. parsley, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cut off top and root ends of onions. Peel, quarter, then separate onion layers. Place onions in a sauce pan and cover with water. Add some salt to taste. Bring to a boil and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until tender. Drain.

Melt butter in a saucepan over moderate heat. Add flour and cook, whisking until thickened, about 2 minutes. Add onions, cloves and salt and pepper to taste and gently simmer 5 minutes. Stir in parsley.
