1/3 cup shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar (divided)
1 egg
1½ cups sifted all purpose flour
1½ tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 cup milk
6 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and 1 cup sugar, add egg and beat well. Mix & sift flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Add alternately with milk to egg mixture. Fill greased muffin pans 2/3's full. Bake at 350º for 20-30 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pans at once and roll in melted butter, then put in mixture of remaining 1/2 cup sugar & cinnamon.

Becky, Cindy's sister had made these for us, this particular time she made them when I was pregnant & in labor with Samantha & was heading to the hospital & Becky & Rachael were nice enough to watch Heather for us while we went to hospital. Becky made these for Heather & Rachael & they brought some with to the hospital when Samantha was born. These definitely do taste like donuts!
