Directions:1st I put the 8 cups of milk in a big pot & let that get warm, do not boil 2nd put on a separate pot to cook your rice. 3rd In a different smaller pot, Boil together for 5 minutes (butter and water) Add 8 T. flour & cook until butter fat separates (I use a wisp this way there is not as many lumps) Remove some of the fat (I use a baster) Add 1 cup flour & 8 cups of hot milk, beating so as to limit the lumps. Add while cooking 1/2 cup sugar or as sweet as you would like. Add 2 cups cooked rice. Serve with cinnamon & sugar & yes more butter! |

Notes: This is very filling! We grew up having this & we all loved it! When we went to relatives this was always the dish to bring! This recipe is used with milk, because this is the one we had growing up. We didn't live on a farm so we didn't have access to cream, unless we bought it from the store & it was pretty expensive. Now many of us do use cream instead of the milk, it can get pretty rich, but boy is it yummy! This dish you either like or you don't! Our girls asked me to teach them how to make this dish, as they love it so much! As for their husband they are not fans of this, but, that's ok because it saves more for us! :) Anyway, while I am teaching them how to make this at Autumn's house, I had brought butter along with me so she didn't have to supply that. So, when they noticed how much butter I had to put in (1 lb), they were quite surprised at that. But, it didn't make them not want to eat it, they still enjoyed eating it. I believe that it is so important to pass these recipes down to the next generation & teach them how to make these wonderful recipes so they don't get lost! The girls had fun & so did I! My Mom taught me how to make Romme Grod after I was married & I am so glad that she did! Thanks Mom!
You can serve this alone or you can serve with sausage or meat of choice!
