4 c. drained cherries
1 c. white sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. cherry juice
6 tsp. flour
4 drops of red food colouring
1/2 tsp. almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix 4 of the tsp. of flour & 3/4 c. of white sugar
2. Add the salt, cherry juice & food colouring
3. Stir until smooth
4. Cook in large saucepan, stirring constantly until thick
5. Remove from stove & add butter, cherries & mix well
6. Let cool, then add almond extract
7. Mix 2 tsp. flour & 1/4 c. sugar
8. Spread sugar & flour mixture on surface of crust
9. Add cheery mixture

This recipe was my mother's and one of the very few recipes I have of hers. This is one of Grandpa's favourite pies. A lattice crust may be used as well.
