5 eggs
2 cups sugar
1 cup whipping cream
2 cups buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. nutmeg or mace
2 tsp. cinnamon
5½ to 6 cups of flour

Directions:
Directions:
Beat eggs and sugar together well using an electric mixer. Stir in the cream, buttermilk & vanilla. Sift the dry ingredients together and slowly add to the wet mixture. Stir until well blended. Put mixture in a doughnut maker and fry in hot lard at 375º. Turn donuts over immediately and fry until done. The recipe makes a large batch about 3 dozen.
