"As viscous as motor oil swirled in a swamp, redolent of burnt bell peppers nested in by incontinent mice and a finish reminiscent of the dregs of a stale can of Coca-Cola that someone has been using as an ashtray. Not a bad drink, though."--Excerpt from "The Moose Turd Wine Tasting" by T. A. Nonymous

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 oz Pesto sauce. If not using homemade, I suggest Classico or make sure you try the store bought before you use it because they can tend to have too much lemon and sometimes non traditional ingredients.

1/2 lb sliced mushrooms, i use baby Portabella

1 lb Italian sausage (I use ground, but you can use sliced if you like)

1 lb bowtie pasta

Shredded Parmesan cheese for garnish

Directions:
Directions:
Brown the Italian sausage and saute the mushrooms separately, then drain and combine. Turn the heat off or to low and add the pesto. We do not want to cook the pesto sauce, just get it warm to serve.

Cook the pasta, drain and toss with olive oil.

Serve pasta on a plate with a heaping scoop of the pesto mixture, sprinkle with Parmesan and maybe a couple of olives and serve!

To complete the meal serve with a side salad and garlic bread.

Personal Notes:
When I first started making this dish my kids were very young. Back then I made it with spaghetti noodles and we called it green spaghetti, which they thought was funny and probably the only reason I was able to get them to eat something green. This dish is still a favorite in our home.
