1 pound butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
2 c. crushed almonds ( I use 1 cup)
Foil 12X12, buttered, sides turned up
12 oz. bag chocolate chips
*Candy thermometer needed*

Directions:
Directions:
Combine butter, sugar, water and salt in pot. Cook on medium heat, stirring until it reaches 212º. Stop stirring until it reaches 236º. Add crushed almonds. Stir constantly until 290º (until brown, like a paper sack). Immediately add 3/4 tsp. baking soda. Mix well and pour on the buttered foil. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top; as they melt, spread over toffee. Allow to cool, break up and store in airtight container.
