1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. lemon peel
2 c. water
2 tbsp. cornstarch
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, cornstarch, dash of salt in saucepan, stir in water and lemon peel and boil 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in butter and lemon juice. Pour over bread pudding, gingerbread or pound cake.

This is one of Grandmama’s best desserts – bread pudding and lemon sauce. She always floated half a squeezed lemon in the sauce – very pretty. . I don’t have her bread pudding recipe, I will have to find one. She got on a goat’s milk thing once and made a bread pudding using it. Aunt Susan and I wouldn’t eat it, I swear it tasted like goats smell. Papa was very angry with us.
