1 1/2 cups quick oats
1 quart milk
3/4 cups molasses
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup shortening
2 packages dried yeast
1/4 cup warm water
7 1/2- 8 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cook oats in milk 10 minutes. In the meantime, dissolve yeast in warm water. Add molasses salt and shortening to oats. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast. Work in most of flour. Turn onto floured board and knead until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl. Cover and let rise utensil double. Punch down and shape into 3 loaves in greased loaf pans. Let rise again until double. Bake 400º for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350º and bake 40 minutes more. Remove from pans. Brush with butter and allow to cool.
