Brownies:
2 cups sugar
2 cups flour
1 cup shortening
pinch of salt
4 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
6 T cocoa

Frosting:
1/4 cup cocoa
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup sugar

For Brownies:
Mix first seven ingredients together and put in greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Do not overbake.

For frosting:
Put cocoa, milk, and sugar in kettle. Stir until dissolved and boil 1 minute. Take off heat. Add butter and vanilla. Stir until thickened, and then spread on bars while it is still pourable so gets a smooth gloss.
