Directions:1. Sprinkle yeast and sugar over warm water in small bowl. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Let stand 5 min or until mixture is bubbly 2. Put 1 1/2 cups flour and salt in med bowl. Stir in yeast mixture and 1 tbsp oil. Stir until smooth, soft dough forms. Put dough on lightly floured surface. Knead using as much of the remaining flour as needed to make a stiff elastic dough. Shape into a ball and put in a large greased bowl. Turn the dough ball to grease the entire surface. Cover with a kitchen towel. 3. Let dough rise in warm place for 30-45 min (until it has doubled in size) 4. Punch dough down. Knead lightly on floured surface and let it stand for 5 min or more. 5. Flatten dough then roll out to desired shape. (for rolls I roll into a big rectangle but you can use this for several recipes) 6. Mix filling ingredients, then sprinkle on top of dough. Roll dough into a cylinder shape. With a greased knife, cut into slices about 2 inches wide. 7. Bake at 400 F (or package directions) for 20 min or until crust is golden brown. |
