4 Medium Granny Smith Apples
1/4 Cup Firmly Packed Brown Sugar
1/2 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Water
1 Cup Flour
2/3 Cup Sugar
1/2 Cup (1 Stick) Margarine or Butter, softened enough to spread

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375º.

Peel apples and cut each apple into 4 sections. Cut out the apple core and seeds. Cut each section into thin slices (you should have about 4 cups). Put apple slices in an 8x8 casserole pan.

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar and cinnamon; stir until mixed well. Sprinkle mixture over apples. Pour water over apples.

In a medium bowl, combine flour, sugar and margarine; mix with your hands until the mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle over apples.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes or until the apples are soft and the topping is golden brown., Remove from oven and cool for 10 minutes.

Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.
