2 (16 ounces each) frozen sweetened sliced strawberries. I prefer to use fresh strawberries in season
2 cups crushed pretzels
3/4 cup butter
1 package -8 ounce cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
1-12 ounce carton Cool Whip
1-6 ounce box of strawberry jello
2 cups boiling water

Directions:

Mix together 2 cups crushed pretzels, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 3/4 cups butter. Spread over the bottom of 9X13 inch pan.Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes (do no overbake). Remove from oven and cool. Blend together cream cheese and remaining sugar until smooth.Fold into dessert topping. Spread over cooled pretzel crust. Dissolve Gelatin in 2 cups boiling water and slightly cool. Stir in strawberries with juice.let stand till thick and syrupy. Pour over cream cheese layer. Refrigerate until firm.
Optional--I like to dress this dessert up with extra piped whipped topping in the form of stars on top of the Gelatin layer
