1 c. butter, softened (no substitutes)
1 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. almost flavoring
21 to 24 maraschino cherries, cut in half

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well. Stir in flour and almond flavoring. Chill dough for 1 to 2 hours. Roll dough into balls the size of small walnuts. Flatten the balls on ungreased cookie sheet with the bottom of a drinking glass dipped in flour. Press 1/2 of maraschino cherry onto center of each cookie. Bake at 350º for 10 to 13 minutes or until edge of cookie is a very light brown. Be careful not to over-bake.
