Ingredients:
Ingredients:
3/4 c. shortening (part butter)
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. (level) baking powder
1 tsp. salt
Extra flour for rolling out cookies

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together shortening, sugar, eggs, and vanilla and lemon extract thoroughly.
In a separate bowl sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to 'wet' mixture until well mixed.
Roll out dough on floured surface. Cut into shapes. Make sure cookies are cut a little thick. You don't want these to be too thin. Bake at 350º 5 to 7 minutes or until set but not browned. You must watch these cookies so they won't over bake. Place on rack to cool.
Frost with Naomi's Frosting for Cookies if desired.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
These are the best homemade sugar cookies I have ever tasted. They don't have the aftertaste some sugar cookies have. I think it is the lemon extract that does it!
