Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 cup milk
1/2 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
2 pkg yeast
1/4 cup warm water
3 large eggs
6 - 7 cup flour

1 egg white (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk, pour over cut up butter, sugar and salt.
Sprinkle yeast over water (~110 degrees). When
milk mixture has cooled to just warm, stir in yeast,
then beaten eggs and 3 cups of flour. Continue to
add flour until the dough is not too sticky and
can be kneeded. Kneed over a lightly floured surface
until smooth. Place in greased bowl, turn over once,
cover and let raise until doubled in bulk.

Punch down and divide in half then divide into 3.
Roll each piece with your hands to shape the 3 strips
into ropes about 18 inches long.
Braid. Tuck in ends so they do not open while raising.
Repeat with second half.

Place both on a large cookie sheet that has been greased.
Gently moisten top and sides with water and oil.
Raise until about double. Bake in a preheated oven (375) for about 30 - 35 minutes.
Brush twice during baking with egg white and water mixture or with milk
