Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 unbaked pie shell (or make your own)
3 eggs, well-beaten
1/2 cup brown sugar (you can use white)
1 cup white Karo syrup
1/2 tsp salt
2 tbsp flour
2 tbsp melted butter or margarine (1/3 cup)
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup broken pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix ingredients and pour into pieshell after greasing the shell pan with Crisco (if using homemade crust). Cook at 350, covering top of pie when brown, for 45 min - 1 hour til pie is no longer jiggly. Check after about 30 min to see if it's time to cover the top (not just the crust edges).

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This recipe came from my grandmother, whom Doug and I called CheChe and everyone else called Granny (Obets). It is very similar to many other recipes you can find, but BETTER! She would NOT give me the recipe; I had to come bake it with her and write it down to get it. When I did, once we had it in the oven it never cooked, even though the oven was on and hot inside! After we finally gave up, thinking I had done something wrong as the pie was still liquid after spending over 2 hours in the oven, we discovered her oven's thermostat was not working properly. After the oven was fixed I had a successful pie-baking class a couple of weeks later!
