1 cup shortening
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 Tblsp. milk (add this at the very end just to make dough smooth and creamy)
1-2 cups semi-chocolate chips (depending on your preferred chocolate needs)

In a large mixing bowl beat butter and peanut butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and baking soda. Beat until combined, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Beat in the eggs and vanilla until combined. Add flour and milk. Add chocolate chips and mix till just incorporated. If necessary, cover and chill dough about 1 hour or until easy to handle.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Drop cookies by scooping them out of the bowl with a spoon dropping them in small balls onto your greased cookie sheets. (Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until bottoms are light brown.) Transfer to a wire rack and let cool. Makes about 36 cookies.
