Directions:Crush crackers to small crumbs. Heat oil on medium heat. Season steaks with salt and pepper. Beat two eggs in a dish which will be used for dredging steaks. Add enough of the milk to thin the eggs a bit but not too much. Dip steaks into egg mixture and pat onto the cracker crumbs.. Press hard to get the crumbs to stick well. Put steaks in hot oil and fry on both sides.
Gravy: Pour out oil but leave about 3 tablespoons in skillet. Put skillet back on stove over medium heat. Add flour, salt and pepper. Stir together and cook until flour is lightly browned. Pour in milk slowly adding a small amount at a time. Stir while adding the milk. Let simmer and add milk as needed until desired consistency. Add cayenne pepper and additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve over steaks or on the side. |

Notes: This is good served with mashed potatoes or rice especially with the gravy. This is how Greg's mom made it. We referred to it as Obets style because my mom did a different version (she double-dipped using flour, egg/milk, flour). One of our family favorites. This recipe can be used for Chicken Fried Chicken.
