1 c. milk
1 scant T. salt
2 T. sugar
1 1/2 T shortening
1 c. warm water
2 pkg. dry yeast
1 T caraway seeds
3 c. sifted white flour
1 1/2 c. rye flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald milk, stir in sugar, salt, shortening and cool. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir into milk mixture; add caraway and flour all at once. Stir until blended.

Let rise until doubled. Stir down vigorously for one minute. Put into well greased 2 qt. casserole. Brush top with milk and sprinkle with caraway seeds.

Bake 1 hour at 400º.
