1 cup thinly sliced onions
1 large green pepper, sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup chicken broth
1 long loaf Italian bread, or 4 small crusty rolls
1 pound lean steak, trimmed, grilled and cut into thin slices
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Preheat the broiler.

In a large non-stick frying pan, cook the onions, peppers and garlic. In the broth over medium heat, stirring frequently, for 15 to 20 minutes. or until very soft. Divide the vegetables among the bottom sections of the four sections of bread, top with the steak and sprinkle with the mozzarella. Lay open sandwiches on a baking sheet or broiler pan. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese melts and the steak is warmed through. Top with remaining bread.
