Apples- peeled, cored, diced (large) enough to fill crockpot
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 T cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 ground cloves
1/4 salt
1 T vanilla
2 tsp lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
1. Fill crockpot with prepared apples.
2. Combine 1 cup sugar, 1 cup brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt in bowl.
3. Pour sugar and spice mixture over apples.
4. Turn crockpot onto low and cook apples for 10 hours. After first 1-2 hours stir in the sugar mixture to coat the apples.
5. After 10 hours take lid off and stir. (should be very dark and cooked down to about 1/2)
6. Stir in lemon juice, and vanilla.
7. Taste, add more sugar if necessary.
8. Let continue to cook for 1-2 more hours with lid off to absorb more liquid and make apple butter thicken more.
9. At the end of cooking time, use your blender to smooth.
