Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1-11/2 pounds ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup bread crumbs
1/8 teaspoon ground black
pepper
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (I used fresh 2-3 cloves)
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
(can add fresh mushrooms if you'd like)
1 cup thinly sliced onion
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (I used Corn Starch)
2 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons cooking sherry
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder (or fresh cloves), 1/4 of the cut onions, Worcestershire sauce and 1/2 the mushrooms if desired. Form into 6 balls, and flatten into patties.
Heat a small amount of oil in a large skillet over medium heat and cook the remaining onions, until they are nearly caramelized - soft and yellowed. Remove onions from the pan.
Fry the patties and onion in the oil until patties are nicely browned, about 4 minutes per side. Remove the patties. Return the cooked onions to the pan.
Sprinkle flour over the onions and drippings in the skillet. Stir in flour with a fork, scraping bits of beef off of the bottom as you stir. Gradually mix in the beef broth, sherry and any remaining mushrooms if so desired. Season with seasoned salt. Simmer and stir over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens. Turn heat to low, return patties to the gravy, cover, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

Personal Notes:
This is an excellent milk free meal that I made for Alesha when she was sick and she's loved it ever since! I've found that we like extra gravy for potatoes or rice or whatever so you may want to adjust the gravy! Have made with and without mushrooms and it's wonderful both ways! :)
