2 cups brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla or maple
1 cup evaporated milk

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, milk and corn syrup. Bring to a boil over moderate heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and cook without stirring until a small amount will form a soft ball in cold water. Remove from the heat and add butter and flavoring. Set pan in cold water to Luke warm. Beat until the mixture thickens and loses its gloss. Pour into a small buttered pan and cool, then cut into squares.
You can add 1 cup chopped nuts or a cup cup of shredded coconut.
