10 slices bacon, diced
1 medium onion, diced
3 c. water
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. white vinegar
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1/2 c. cornstarch mixed with 1/2 c. cold water

Directions:
Directions:
Brown bacon and strain off grease, leaving small amount to brown onion. Add onion and brown. Add water, sugar, vinegar and bouillon. Bring to boil. Gradually stir in combined cornstarch/water mix.
Reduce heat to simmer and cook 15 min or until thickened. Serve over bed of fresh spinach.

Note: this recipe can also be used as a base for German Potato Salad. Mix dressing along with diced green onions and sliced boiled potatoes.
