1 pound spare ribs
fat
salt and pepper
1/8 C water
1 C sauerkraut
1 1/2 T chopped onion
1/4 t caraway seeds
1 1/2 T sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cut ribs into serving size pieces.
Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
In a Dutch oven, brown ribs in fat.
Add water, cover and cook slowly for 1 hour.
Meanwhile, combine kraut, onion, caraway seed and sugar and cook slowly for 1/2 hour.
Pour fat off of the ribs, saving 1 1/2 T.
Combine ribs and kraut and cooks for 1 hour more.
Thicken with a little flour mixed with the reserved fat from the ribs.
Sweeten to taste.
