3 - 4 lbs. of boneless short ribs ( Costco has them, much leaner and you're not paying for all of the fat and bone! )

oil and garlic

1 medium onion, chopped

1 cup beef broth or stock

1/4 cup of cherry balsamic vinegar

1/2 cup brown sugar

juice of one lemon

A handful of cherries, either fresh pitted or dried

A splash of worstershire sauce

A small can of tomato sauce

Onion and Garlic powder to taste

Salt and pepper

Cover the bottom of a large cast iron skillet or Dutch Oven with oil and garlic ( or my favorite Wegmann's basting oil!)

Season short ribs liberally with salt and pepper and brown in the oil and garlic and set aside.

Saute onion in the same pan.

Return ribs to the pan

Add the beef broth, Cherry balsamic, cherries, lemon juice, worstershire, brown sugar, tomato sauce, garlic and onion powder.

Braise , covered in a 250 oven for about 4 - 5 hours

I've done this in a crock pot too and it's good but definitely better in the oven! It's a little pricey to make for a crowd but it's really delicious! : )
