1/3 cup melted butter
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup chopped pecans
8-10 one inch thick French bread
4 eggs, beaten
1 3/4 cup of milk

Directions:
Directions:
Stir butter and syrup. Pour into 9" by 13" baking dish. Sprinkle 1/4 cup pecans. Arrange bread on top (one layer). Whisk together eggs and milk and pour over bread. Sprinkle rest of pecans. Cover and refrigerate 2 to 24 hours. Bake uncovered at 350º for 30 to 35 minutes or until slightly brown. Serve with syrup or fresh fruit.

Another variation is to sauté 3 sliced apples with 4 Tbsp butter and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Place on the bottom of the casserole dish. Follow the rest of the recipe with eggs and milk to pour over the French bread. Cover and refrigerate overnight.
