1 pound butter
2 1/2 cups sugar
8-10 eggs
4 cups cake flour (not sifted)
4 level tsps. baking powder
1/4 cup milk
2 tsps. vanilla extract
Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter & sugar until very light.Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually fold in flour, baking powder, and milk. Add vanilla. Beat well. Beat at 400 degrees for 50-60 minutes, or at a lesser temperature if cake browns too fast. No icing needed, but may sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.

I remember growing up in a home where both of my grandparents loved to cook. My grandmother, Mamou, was a great cook. Every Saturday she would make a dessert for Sunday dinner. One of her favorite desserts was old fashion pound cake serve with home made hand cranked ice cream.

Every Sunday afternoon, my girlfriends would want to come visit because they knew there was always a delicious cake, pie, or cobbler waiting on the dining room table. Mamou never let them down.
