2 T olive oil
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1 C chopped onions or leeks
1 t cumin seed
2 T ground cumin
1 # turkey sausage
3 C roughly chopped cooked chicken
1/2 - 16 oz cans garbanzo beans, drained
2/3 C barley
2 t pickled jalapeño
6 C chicken broth
4 to 6 C chopped kale (optional
1/2 C shredded Monterey Jack or Cheddar cheese
Chopped green onions
Sour cream

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add onions and garlic; sauté 5 minutes. Add cumin, cumin seed, and turkey sausage. Cook until sausage is browned. Add chicken, beans, barley, jalapeño, broth and kale, if using. Bring to a boil, simmer about 20 minutes, until barley is cooked. Serve topped with cheese, green onions and sour cream.
