2 c Flour
2 tsp. Chinese Five-spice Powder
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1 pkg. (3.4 oz) Jell-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
1 c Butter, softened
1 c Packed Brown Sugar
1 Egg
1/2 c Powdered Sugar
3 tbsp. Water
1/4 tsp Almond Extract
1/2 c Sliced Almonds, toasted

Heat oven to 350º
Combine flour, five-spice powder, baking soda and dry pudding mix, Set aside.
Beat butter and brown sugar in large bowl with mixer until light and fluffy. Blend in egg. Gradually add flour mixture, mixing well after each addition.
Drop tablespoons of dough, 2 inches apart, onto baking sheet.
Bake 10-12 minutes, or until edges of cookies are lightly browned. Cool 1 minute or so on baking sheet. Remove to wire racks, cool completely.
Whisk powdered sugar, water and extract until blended; brush onto cookies. Sprinkle with nuts.
Note: you can toast nuts in the microwave. Place up to 1 cup in a microwavable dish and microwave on HIGH until fragrant and crisp, stirring every 30 seconds.
