5 pounds sugar
1 quart apple cider vinegar
1 box Sauers Pickling Spices
1 teaspoon whole cloves

Directions:
First day: wash cukes and slice ¼"; soak in lime water to cover 24 hours. (Do not use metal pan for soaking cucumbers)

Second day: Dip cucumbers out of pot and rinse thoroughly 2 times in very cold water. Drain and soak in mixture of sugar, vinegar, and spices for 24 hours.

Third day: Begin cooking, don't cook fast. After boiling starts, begin timing for 20 minutes or until pickles starts turning darker. Let simmer along while filling hot sterilized jars so that pickles will be sealed hot. Put sealed jars in hot water bath, water to cover jars. Start timing for 10 minutes after water boils.
