wide strips of aluminum foil
1 Tabs baking soda
1 quart boiling water

Directions:
Directions:
To polish silver, place wide, large strips of aluminum foil in the sink or large pan. Add 1 tabs baking soda per 1 quart of boiling water. Lay the silver in the container. Pour boiling water over the silver. Soak for 10 minutes. Rinse and buff with a soft cloth. Repeat as needed.

When the silver touches aluminum, an electric connection between the metals dissolves the tarnish.

This is a very old and excellent method for cleaning silver. There is a small amount of silver that is lost when using this process but negligible compared to the ease of cleaning.
