Ingredients: 1/2 cup margarine 1 tsp white sugar or icing sugar 1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar (2) 3 eggs (6) 1/2 cup deluxe mixed fruit (1) 1 cup raisins, heated (3) 1 tsp almond flavouring (2) 2 Tbsp flour (4) 1 tsp Baking powder (2)

Directions:Bottom: 1/2 cup margarine; 1 tsp sugar or icing sugar;1 cup flour Mix and press into 8"x8" pan. Bake 15 min @350° before adding topping.
Topping: 1 cup brown sugar; 3 eggs; 1/2 cup mixed fruit; 1 cup raisins heated with a tiny bit of water in microwave about 2 minutes;1 tsp almond flavouring; 2 Tbsp flour; 1 tsp Baking powder. Mix and pour over cooked base. 350° 30-40 minutes.
Cool, then ice with butter icing with almond flavouring added and tinted pink (opt) |

Notes: One day I made this and tinted the icing pink. It was an enormous hit, and people often ask me to make the pink squares. The almond flavour is a real treat. If you want more squares from one baking use the following recipe for the bottom and double all ingredients in the topping.
3 cups flour 2 Tbsp white sugar or icing sugar 1 1/2 cups margarine or butter Mix and press into 9"x 13" pan. Bake 15 minutes @ 350° before adding doubled topping. This works for all squares.
