"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

1 clove Garlic, crushed (or 1/4 tsp granulated garlic)
1/4 cup onion, diced

1 T. sugar
3 tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Drain beans. Add crushed garlic, 1/4 cup onion and 2 slices bacon to crock pot and cook on high for 2 hours. After cooking for 2 hours, add remaining ingredients and stir. Cook on low for about 6+ hours until beans are tender.
This is spicy. To tame them, cut back on the crushed red pepper.
You may have to adjust the cooking times for your particular slow cooker.
Can take up to 10 hours.
