1/2 Cup light Corn Syrup
1/2 Cup Hot Water
1/4 tsp Salt

2 Egg Whites

Whole Pecans

Directions:
Directions:
In heavy large saucepan, combine sugar, syrup, salt and hot water. Cook and stir until ingredients dissolve. Then let cook, without stirring, to hard ball stage.

Meanwhile, beat 2 egg whites until stiff. Pour 1/3 hot mixture over egg whites and beat. Continue to add the hot mixture while beating constantly. When all has been added, beat for 5 mins. Add vanilla.

Beat until mixture forms soft peaks and losses it's gloss. Add 1 Tbl Powdered Sugar and mix well. Drop by spoon onto waxed paper. Add nuts, if desired.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The addition of the powdered sugar makes this a "never fail" recipe. It has a tendency to set up fast. It may take a little experimenting to fine just the right beating time.

This recipe came from Mary Hamm.
