Directions:
Mix cocoa and hot water well and let cool. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt onto waxed paper and set aside. Put fat into mixing bowl. Add vanilla to the fat and mix well. Add about 1/4 of the sugar to the fat, and mix until creamy. Add another 1/4 of the sugar and mix. Do this until all the sugar is added. The mixture should be smooth and creamy.

Add the egg and mix well. Mix the chocolate and milk together. Add about 1/4 dry ingredients to the fat and sugar mixture; then add about 1/4 of the cocoa-milk mixture. Continue to add flour and chocolate mixtures alternately until all are well mixed. Add nuts if desired. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Leave about 2 inches between cookies.

Bake at 375º for 12 to 15 mins. Take cookies out of oven and place on rack to cool.

Recipe makes about 40 cookies.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
You can make a richer cookie by using 2/3 cup fat. These cookies will be harder to take from cookie sheet; but will stay moist longer. This recipe also comes from 4-H book.

These cookies are good iced with vanilla frosting.
