3 cups flour
½ lb or 1 cup clarified butter
2 tbsp milk
2 tbsp water
½ cup sugar
1 ½ pitted dates (lbs)
1/8 lb salted butter
Powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Remove skin & hard pieces from dates. Knead the 1/8 lb butter into the dates. Set aside.
Mix sugar & flour. Cream with butter. Knead well for 20 min.
Break dough into small balls. Roll each into a cylinder about 4” to 5” long. Flatten out. Roll date mixture into cylinders & place on flattened dough. Seal by pinching together edges of dough, then roll into shape. Make into ring.
Place in ungreased tray. Bake in oven 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove & turn over. Put back in for 5 minutes. Makes 36 pieces. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
