4 slices dry bread
1 pound ground beef
2 eggs
1 clove garlic, minced
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dried, crushed oregano
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (the kind in the canister)
2 tablespoons olive oil
dash of pepper

Spaghetti Sauce:
3/4 cup chopped onion
1 cup water
1 tablespoon sugar
2 1-pound cans of tomatoes
2 6-ounce cans of tomato paste
1-1/2 teaspoons crushed dried oregano
1 clove garlic, minced
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 bay leaf
2 tablespoons olive oil

For meatballs:
Soak bread in water for 2 or 3 minutes, and then squeeze out the moisture with your hands. Combine the soaked bread with the remaining ingredients (except the olive oil) and mix well. Form this into small balls (around 2 inches across). Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs in this hot oil, turning frequently to cook evenly and keep the balls round. Add to spaghetti sauce and cook for 30 minutes.
For sauce:
Cook onion and garlic in oil until tender but not browned. Add the remaining ingredients. Simmer uncovered for 30 minutes, chopping up the tomato chunks as needed. Add the cooked meatballs and continue simmering for 30 minutes more. Serve over cooked spaghetti.
