1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tbsp. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 cups flour
2/3 cup pecans, finely chopped

Directions:
Directions:
In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar. Add sugar, egg and vanilla; mix well. Add in the flour and pecans by hand. Roll into 1-inch balls. Put balls on parchment-lined cookie sheets and press down with a fork to make a criss-cross, like you would a peanut butter cookie. Bake in a preheated 350º oven for 12 minutes or until light brown.

This recipe was from our great grandmother. During the war she stopped making these cookies because the ingredients were too expensive. Our mom found the recipe many years later and made them every holiday. They were always one of our family's favorite cookies!
