Ingredients: Cast iron skillet 4 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup light brown sugar 2 21-ounce can apple pie or any fruit filling 2 teaspoons cinnamon sugar with a touch of nutmeg ( or apple pie spice) 1 tablespoon melted butter to brush on top 2 refrigerated rolled pie crusts or make your own

Directions:Preheat the oven to 400.
1. Melt the 1/2 stick of butter in a 9-inch cast iron skillet. 2. Add the brown sugar and melt together on medium heat, about 2 minutes. 3. Remove from the heat. Unroll one pie crust and place in the skillet over the butter. 4. Pour the apple pie filling into the pie crust and sprinkle with 1 tablespoon of the cinnamon sugar. Add a little more if you like. 5. Cover the filling with the second pie crust folding the edges inward if they overlap your skillet edge. 6. Brush the top with the 1 tablespoon of the melted butter and sprinkle remaining cinnamon sugar. 7. Cut vents with knife in the middle of the pie for steam. 8. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes or until golden brown. Serve and enjoy! |

This is a take on their old favorite that is ready for eating in a fraction of the time. I raise my fork – or better yet spoon!
