2 c. Sugar
1/2 tsp. Salt
1 stick Oleo
1/2 c. Shortening
1 c. Water
3 Tbl. Cocoa
2 Eggs (well beaten)
1 tsp. Baking Soda
1/2 c. Buttermilk
1 tsp. Vanilla

Quick and Easy Chocolate Frosting for Sheet Cake:

1 stick Oleo
3 Tbl. Cocoa
6 Tbl. Milk (regular or 2%)
1 box Powdered Sugar (4 cups)
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 c. Chopped Nuts (optional)

Sheet Cake: Sift flour, measure and mix with sugar and salt in mixing bowl. In a saucepan, put the oleo, shortening, water and cocoa. Bring to a boil and pour over the flour and sugar mixture. In another bowl put eggs, soda, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix. Add to the above mixture and mix well. Pour into greased and floured shallow cake pan (15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1).

Bake @ 400º for 20 minutes.

Frosting: Mix oleo, cocoa, and milk in saucepan. Heat over low flame, but do not boil. Remove from heat and add powdered sugar and vanilla. Mix well. Frost sheet cake after it has cooled for 5 minutes. Makes approx. 24 servings.

I use powdered buttermilk instead of liquid. It keeps in the fridge for a long time and you don't have the waste of unused liquid buttermilk. I sift the powdered buttermilk in with the flour, sugar and salt. I add additional water (according to can directions) to the other liquids that I boil.
