1 lb. sugar
4 eggs
2 Tbsp. anise (without stems)
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 lb. flour

Directions:
Beat sugar and eggs for about 15 minutes. The mixture should be very light. Add flour, baking powder and anise. Work by hand to form dough. Let rest in refrigerator. Taking small pieces of dough roll on counter into log shape, with a width about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Cut log into 2 inch pieces. Form each piece into a crescent and make 2 slits. Let sit over night or all day on a greased and floured cookie sheet. Cover with a clean dish towel while resting. Bake for 10 minutes in a 350º oven. Store in an airtight container. Cookies will harden the longer they are stored.
