21/4 c split peas (rinse)
1 t salt
1/4 t pepper
2 bay leaves

Directions:
Directions:
In a large pot bring to boil the ingredients with about 8c water.
Simmer in pot about an hour. Remove bay leaves. Serve with corn bread or crackers.

I was born 1929 in Lavaca Arkansas. At the foot of the Ozark Mountains. It's beautiful there. Everyone was having hard times, the Depression was on. My dad farmed, mom raised a garden and because of that we lived better that most. Since we seem to be coming to that again, I'll call my recipes depression recipes
