Mother K's Banana Nut Bread Recipe

1/2 c Shortening
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 c mashed banana (2)
3 T milk
1/2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1 t vanilla
2 c flour
1/2 c chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add eggs, and beat well. Add bananas. Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda. and add to creamed mixture. Add milk, and vanilla. Fold in nuts if using.
Pour into greased and floured loaf pans, about 2/3 full. Bake at 375º for 15 minutes, reducing heat to 350º, continue baking for 30 to 40 minutes until tooth pick comes out clean. Remove breads from pans to cooling rakes to cool.
Freezes well.
