2 pkgs yeast or two tbsp. yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1 cup milk
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter or shortening
1/2 cup cool water
6 cup flour
Corn meal (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water.
Scald milk then add sugar, salt and shortening.
When milk mixture above is dissolved, add 1/2 cup cool water.
When mixture is lukewarm, add yeast and mix with flour.
Knead until nice, smooth dough.
Place in greased bowl and let rise until double –about one hour.
Turn onto floured board and shape into 18 to 20 muffins.
Place on cookie sheet sprinkled with corn meal.
Let rise again – 1 hour.
Bake about 5 minutes on each side on ungreased griddle which is moderately hot on top of stove.
If they brown too quick, reduce heat so muffins cook thoroughly.
