2 c. white sugar
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 c. shortening
3 eggs
4 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. milk
7 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat over to 400º
Cream shortening and sugars. In a separate bowl, mix flour and other dry ingredients. Add dry to creamed mix alternately with milk. Add eggs last and mix completely.
Knead and roll lightly. Cut with 21/2 - 3 on. cookie cutter. Bake about 8 minutes. Cookies will remain very light colored.

This is the recipe that I remember from my grandmother. To be honest, I have made them many times and have yet to have a product even close to my grandmothers. Nyla and I remember these cookies always being available in a tin in Grandmother Shellito's kitchen.
