40 saltines (2 sleeves)
1/2 lb. butter (2 sticks - don't use margarine)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
12 oz. milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup finely ground nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Place 40 saltines on cookie sheet, touching but not overlapping. Melt butter and add brown sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 3 minutes. Gently pour brown sugar and butter mixture over the saltines and immediately put in oven and bake 5 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle one 12-oz. bag of chocolate on top. When chips start to melt, spread with the back of a spoon evenly over the entire pan. If desired, sprinkle 1 cup of nuts on top. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Break (not cut) into pieces.
